The Curve at the Barbican Centre in London is a series of site-specific installations created by contemporary artists. French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot’s installation for The Curve, his first solo exhibition in the UK, consists of a walk-though aviary for a flock of zebra finches, complete with electric guitars and other musical instruments. The birds do their thing, as birds are wont to do, and in the process of perching and feeding on or near the instruments, they create an intriguing and random “soundscape.” After all, they are just winging it.
A YouTube video here captures the sense of the installation. Probably worth flying over to see it.
