In this week’s METRO PULSE, I preview the two opera productions in this year’s Rossini Festival. Click on the links for the articles.
The Knoxville Opera’s production is The Barber of Seville (in Italian with supertitles). The preview focuses on Knoxville native Kevin Burdette who is singing the role of Bartolo. That production is Friday, April 23, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 25, at 2:30 p.m. in the Tennessee Theatre, 604 S. Gay Street.
The UT Opera Theatre production consists of a double bill of one-acts, Gianni Schicchi and The Village Singer. They will have three performances: Saturday, April 24, at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 25, at 8:00 p.m. in the Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay Street.
