Anthony Laciura Directs ‘La fanciulla del West’ for Knoxville Opera

Laciura_OutsideAnthony Laciura spent 26 seasons at the Metropolitan Opera performing comprimario tenor roles in 877 performances. Add to that, three seasons on the current HBO series Boardwalk Empire as the German valet, ‘Eddie Kessler’. What that equals is an amazing wealth of musical and dramatic experience that is currently bubbling forth onto opera stages as Laciura puts on the director’s hat. He’s currently mounting Puccini’s La Fanciulla del West for Knoxville Opera in a production starring Manrico Tedeschi (Dick Johnson), Carter Scott (Minnie), Scott Bearden (Rance), and real horses on stage–the first since Tom Mix played the Tennessee Theater in the  30s.

I talked a bit with Laciura for this week’s profile/preview in Metro Pulse. Read the article here.
