Opera Startups: Marble City Opera

Marble City Opera, a new chamber opera organization under the leadership of two singers, soprano Kathryn Frady Marvel and baritone Kevin Richard Doherty, begins life on Friday, May 31, 2013, with a production of Henry Mollicone’s The Face on the Barroom Floor. This inaugural production can be seen at Relix Variety Theater, 1208 N. Central in Knoxville. The three person cast will consist of Marvel, Doherty, and tenor Boris Van Druff. Doors open at 7 pm for an 8 pm performance.

Afterwards, the production will appear at the Atlanta Fringe Festival with five performances at the Horizons School Theater: Thursday, June 6: 11 p.m.; Friday, June 7: 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 8: 2 p.m. & 9:30 p.m.; and Sunday, June 9: 5 p.m.
