In this week’s column in Metro Pulse, I preview the upcoming UT School of Music recital series of Brahms duo sonatas with pianist Kevin Class and three colleagues — cellist Wesley Baldwin, clarinetist Victor Chavez, and violinist Ching-yi Lin. The series starts with the Cello and Piano sonatas on Friday, January 31.
Also in the column is my review of the Knoxville Symphony Chamber Orchestra’s concert of Sunday, Jan 26, that featured the Mozart Flute Concerto No. 1 with flutist Ebonee Thomas. The All-Mozart concert also included the Overture to Idomeneo, A Musical Joke, and the “Paris” Symphony (No. 31). Lucas Richman conducted.
