2016 Winners: Met Opera Mid-South Region Auditions

The auditions for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Mid-South Region was held on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Germantown Performing Arts Center in Germantown, TN.

The first place winner who advances to the MONC semi-finals in New York next month is baritone Hunter Enoch. Enoch received a prize of $5800. Enoch is a Tennessee native who studied at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music where he took his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music.

The second place winner was soprano Jessica Faselt, who was a winner from the Middle/East Tennessee District.

There was a tie for the third place prize:  Emmett O’Hanlon, baritone, and Jacqueline Piccolino, soprano. An Encouragement Award went to Nicolette Book, soprano.

The judges were Brian Speck from the Houston Grand Opera and Melissa Wegner of the MET National Council.

Singers for the 2016 Met Opera Mid-South Audition

The Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions for the Mid-South Region will take place this Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Germantown Performing Arts Center in Germantown, TN. Starting time is 11 am.  One region winner will advance to the national semi-finals in New York City on March 6th.

There are four districts comprising the Mid-South Region: Arkansas, Kentucky, Middle/East Tennessee, and West Tennessee. This year, there are fourteen singers who made the district competition cut.

2015 Met Opera Mid-South Region Finals on Saturday

A field of 12 singers emerged from the district competitions in the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions for the Mid-South Region–4 sopranos, 1 mezzo-soprano, 1 countertenor, 3 tenors, 1 baritone,   1 bass-baritone, and 1 bass. The regional competition is being held  Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Memorial Hall, University of Kentucky, in Lexington, KY.  The district winners competing in the regionals are:

The winners of the 2013 Mid-South Region of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions are:

Encouragement Award:  Philip Andrew Himebook

Nelson, originally from Saugus, CA, advances to the Semi-Final competition in New York City.

Field Set for 2013 Mid-South Met Opera Auditions

With the final district competitions complete, the field of singers for the 2013 Mid-South regional Metropolitan Opera auditions is now set. The competition is Saturday, January 26, 2013, in Memphis, TN, at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre.

Results: 2012 Met Opera Mid-South Region Winners

The 2012 Metropolitan Opera National Council audition for the Mid-South Region was held on Saturday, February 11 at the Germantown Performing Arts Center outside of Memphis. The 1st place finisher, who will compete in the National Semi-Finals in New York, was baritone Anthony Clark Evans of Elizabethtown, KY.

The second and third place winners were, respectively, soprano Vanessa Isiguen from Charlotte, NC, and baritone Thomas Gunther originally hailing from Muscatine, IA, now of Cincinnati, OH.

Soprano Rachel Sterrenberg, a University of Kentucky senior from Madison, GA,  won the Encouragement Award.
